Where to Find a Taxi at Istanbul Airport
Taxis at Istanbul Airport run 24 hours a day from the arrivals floor. According to the airport, all three taxi types pick up at exit gates 9 and 13, and there are also vehicles on the departure floor. If you have pre-booked with us, you do not need the rank: your driver waits at the arrivals exit with your name on a sign.
Which Taxi Colours Will I See?
The airport lists three types of taxi. They run on a meter set by UKOME, the transport authority of Istanbul, and the two larger types cost more than the orange one.

Why Are There Three Types?
The airport explains that the turquoise and black taxis exist for travellers who need more luggage space, more seats or more legroom. If you have only one or two bags, the orange taxi is the lowest-priced of the three at the rank.
What Do I Do After Landing?
- Clear passport control and collect your bags
- Follow the signs for the taxis to the arrivals floor exit gates
- Choose the taxi type you want before you get in
- Check that the meter is running when you set off
- Have your hotel address ready, written down if possible
Do I Pay Tolls on Top of the Meter?
Yes. The airport says bridge tolls and toll road charges are collected from the customer. If you take the Eurasia Tunnel to the Asian side, you also pay a bridge toll to cover the return journey of the taxi. With our pre-booked taxi, tolls are included in the fare.
Should I Use the Rank or Book in Advance?
The rank needs no planning and suits a light traveller. Booking in advance suits you better if you want the price settled before you fly, or a driver waiting even if your flight is late. Our Istanbul Airport taxi page compares the two.
